CyberCon Melbourne – November 2024: Transforming Threat Intelligence into Actionable Attack Surface Reduction

It was a privilege to present at CyberCon on “Beyond Detection: Transforming Threat Intelligence into Actionable Attack Surface Reduction.” During the session, we explored the critical role of threat intelligence in the current cybersecurity landscape and how organizations can leverage it to proactively address the evolving threat environment.

The discussion focused on understanding the complexities of today’s threats and the importance of integrating threat intelligence into every phase of cybersecurity—from prevention and detection to investigation and research. We examined the challenges of running an effective cyber threat intelligence program, highlighting how organizations can tailor these efforts to meet their specific business needs, budget, and available resources.

We also delved into how organizations can size their threat intelligence programs based on the highest priority use cases, ensuring they address the most pressing security concerns. A key part of the session included how actionable analytics related to specific threats, such as known IP addresses and domains, can drive decisions for tactical preventive controls. By utilizing this intelligence, organizations can take steps to get ahead of unknown threats before they escalate, reducing their attack surface and improving overall security posture.

The session was well-attended, and the level of engagement during the Q&A was exceptional. It was great to explore how organizations can move beyond traditional detection methods and effectively use threat intelligence to reduce attack surfaces.

Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed their thoughtful questions. It’s always rewarding to share insights with such an engaged audience, and I look forward to continuing the conversation on strengthening our cybersecurity strategies.
